Garment Technology Manager

Our client is a design house and clothing importer based in the UK with a turnover of £45 million supplying the UK, mainland Europe and rest of world high street retailers. We are seeking to recruit a Garment Technology Manager to lead their technology team based in head office in Manchester.
As Technical Manager you will serve as a role model to challenge, develop and lead a team of five garment technologists, one fabric technologist and a compliance expert ensuring the best quality of garment is produced, across multi products for both stock and contract customers whilst overseeing and helping to implement an ethical compliance business strategy that delivers exceptional standards.
The role focus is to increase customer satisfaction by implementing and managing a technical and quality strategy that delivers safe, fit for purpose products to exceed customer expectations, maximising sales and profit.
As a valued member of the senior management team, you will report directly to the company Directors and work very closely with all internal teams.
Other duties and responsibilities:
Working to agreed critical paths so that contracted delivery dates can be achieved.
Acting as a technical ‘centre of excellence’, keeping up to date with technical developments, contribute to product improvements, communicating these to the team and providing technical advice and support.
Ensure consistent product quality, sizing, fabric and colour standards are achieved across own brand product types, working closely with other departments to achieve consistency across the whole product offer.
Requirements:
A natural leader who inspires and motivates with previous technical management experience.
Significant experience in apparel fields with a thorough knowledge of production processes.
Be able to proactively identify and analyse problems to propose commercial solutions.
Be a decisive and committed decision maker.
Able to liaise with senior management, sales, design, and merchandise teams to ensure efficiency across the business.
Have market awareness of competition.
Strong communication skills to liaise with Global suppliers.
Able to give technical advice on quality and fabric bases, both knitted and woven.
Be commercially aware.
Exceptionally well organised with good attention to detail.
Good level of computer skills and general systems literacy including excel and have experience of a data base such as PLMS.
Have a flexible and proactive approach.
Able to be hands on to work as part of a team to ease workloads when required.
The role may involve some travel.
Education at degree level or time proven work experience.
