My client is the UK’s market leading supplier of adult and children’s apparel, supplying mainly character merchandise to major High Street retailers and on-line companies in the UK. We are currently looking for an Experienced Garment Technologist to join our clients' busy head office team.
The Role:
- Responsibility of working with a number of retailers – aiming for a right first time approach.
- Creating workbooks/ specs for costings and buying samples
- Requesting of sealing samples and initial patterns, from offshore manufacturers. Measuring and checking of garments, internal approvals where necessary samples fitted with retailers in person or over VC, and sending comments out to the factories.
- Working closely with the factories to ensure that the product meets Retailer & Legal requirements, and necessary risk assessments are carried out.
- Administration of the critical path
- Submission of final production samples and relevant documentation.
- Creating print patterns on Optitex for the design team to set up print packs
- Working on Optitex 3D to create patterns for design and development
About you:
- We are looking for someone who can work as part of a team, with a positive attitude.
- Confident and clear communication skills, both verbal and written, with manufacturers, retailers and within the office environment.
- Someone who is well organised and flexible, with a logical and analytical mind, and excellent administration skills
- Someone who works well under pressure, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Full driving licence is essential.
- Knowledge of 3D software, ie Optitex/ Browzwear/ CLO, would be advantageous.
- 2 - 5 years experience in a related area
- Knowledge of Excel would be advantageous

Attend customer meetings / take briefs / confidently present trends and design work
Engage with customers to develop collections, liaise on design and development
Engage with suppliers to develop trims, fabric and wash development, sample development
Attend trade shows, organise design travel calendar with regards to UK shop reports, international and UK research trips etc
Carry out sample reviews with designers, Technologists, Account Managers and Director
Manage samples being processed by development team
About you:
Must be very organised with good creative energy
Experience in a similar product area is essential with a history of working with denim and cargos product areas

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Import Merchandiser to join a well-established childrenswear client. This role requires you to have a sound knowledge and understanding of the critical path.
You will be:
Raising & maintaining purchase orders on the SAP system.
Creating and managing the critical path.
Attending internal fit meetings, with QA for each individual style, to check all PP samples, and Production samples for all details including fit, fabric cols, qualities, prints and trims.
Updating and creating workbooks, for each order.
Managing the critical path efficiently, by gaining approval of lab dips, bulk fabrics, knit downs, prints and trims, samples & labelling.
Resolving any problems that may arise on a daily basis with suppliers.
Checking all label & barcode layouts.
Updating and maintaining supplier manuals.
Checking and approving all invoices, and packing lists prior to shipment, and ensuring suppliers have made bookings for Freight, and approving vessel schedules will be met, and updating our shipping dept.
Chasing to ensure goods are handed over on time, and meet the correct scheduled vessel.
You will have:
Fashion Degree or similar.
At least 4 years' experience in a similar role working for a supplier.
Experience managing the critical path.
Competent user of Microsoft Office, in particular Outlook and Excel.
Excellent communication, organisational and negotiation skills.

My client is a small friendly team based in central Manchester with close links to public transport. They are a global producer of homeware, sleepwear and textiles. Working collaboratively with UK retail buyers, overseas managers and senior designer in house.
Duties include:
Ensure high service levels are provided and newness in design is given.
Proficient in Adobe Software, including Illustrator and Photoshop (minimum 2-3 years’ experience).
See concept designs through to production, working closely with buyers and factories to ensure the brief is met.
Work closely with technologists and merchandisers to ensure products fit and find solutions to any problems in production.
Researching trends and creating mood boards for new projects and seasons ahead.
Attending customer meetings and prepare for presentations.
Design to a brief and amend as buyer requests, display experience of liaising with buyers requests and demands.
Creating exclusive designs with awareness of cost and factory restrictions.
Prepare design packs including technical drawing and size specs.
Thorough understanding of the current market and research of retailers to ensure handwriting is in line.
Manage day to day work load, working closely with buyers and factories to ensure deadlines are met for samples and designs.
Develop new products with the factories from research, requesting new fabrics and embellishments.
